When I was a newbie in the field of blogging, it took me almost one whole day to write a good post.
But the frustrating part was, even after dedicating so much time to write, no people were there to see my articles.
May be I was the only person going through my nicely crafted write-ups again and again.
Believe me; it was so frustrating that sometimes I felt like quitting.
If you are a blogger, and facing the same problem, then you might know how maddening it is to be lonely on this World Wide Web.
What I wanted then was TRAFFIC.
I started studying myself. And made a blueprint on how to work just to increase the traffic of my blog.
Interestingly, this blueprint made my life.
These days when my friends ask me to share the tricks that I follow to get more traffic, I share my experience. But now I thought to guide the world wide bloggers to get a decent volume of traffic to their blog so that they can end their struggling phase and start earning well from their blog.
Let’s find out few simple ways that can increase the traffic of your blog by almost 100x.
Here you go-
#1- SHARING IS CARING
Our parents taught us since our childhood that sharing is caring. And similarly, the more you share your blog posts, it shows your care for your readers, and at the end of the day, you get a huge volume of traffic that is no doubt a pleasant reward.
But is too much sharing good?
No, it’s not!
By too much sharing, like several times in a day will just end up spamming your readers.
So what’s the way?
Share, but in a strategical way.
It’s not wise to share your post once and forget it the next day. If you forget your post, then how do you remember the readers to remember it?
A good way to share your blog post on all social media platforms as soon as you publish it.
No, your job doesn’t end here.
Post it again the next day, in one of the platforms, say Twitter, then again after a week’s time post again in Google+. Continue this process. Because when you post something on any social media, many people will see it, but what about those people who somehow missed to check it out?
Also, I guess you won’t like your readers to wash off your blog from their mind after one week. So keep on posting systematically.
I will give you one example.
Suppose you are posting this blog post on Twitter.
If on day-1 you are posting – not getting traffic? Here is the solution (your_link).
By day-2 you can post your blog post on Twitter saying- Proven Tips That Will Increase Your Blog Traffic 100x (your_link)
Day-3 you can post- 73% sites don’t have proper social sharing buttons (your_link)
So, the main factor is, if you pose a question one day, the next day, you should use the title of your post along with the URL and another day you can cite some data and put your blog post URL.
By doing this, you are encouraging the readers not to miss your post.
It’s like packing something old into a gift-worthy wrapper and making it praiseworthy.
#2- ASK INFLUENCERS TO CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR BLOG
This is like gaining double with a single shot.
Yes, I will tell you.
Firstly, you will get an amazing content for your blog if you get an influencer of your niche to write on your blog.
Secondly, if the influencer shares his/her post to his social platforms where he has many followers, then people will come to know about your blog also. You get a powerful distribution channel.
This process is called Link Building, and this is very important for getting higher traffic on your blog.
#3- USE RIGHT TWEET TEXT
A right tweet text can be game changing.
The perfect way to write a perfect Tweet Text is- post title, URL and your Twitter handle.
According to data, 73% of the companies are not using Twitter texts intelligently and losing the chance of getting more visitors to their site.
Also, you should share your links with your followers often with proper post title and URL.
But remember, often means periodically, that too strategically.
Over sharing is spamming!!
#4- CREATE A MASTERPIECE BLOG POST
This factor is the basic to get a good traffic on your blog. As per Google’s new guidelines, it's good to write a long post with data, experimental statistics, case studies and make it more reliable.
It’s a waste of time if you keep on posting one short blog post of 500-600 words every day. Rather, I will say to write a long post that will cover every point it should have. After reading your article, the readers should be content. They should feel that yes, no more information can be found there over the internet more than this piece of article.
The more informative content you have, the more love you get from Google as it adds value to your readers and the more visitors you get.
Now I want to discuss a few points here regarding writing a masterpiece content.
- Write evergreen contents- Don’t write about something that won’t be valuable after a few days or even a few weeks. Evergreen content holds extra value to the readers’ mind. And one more thing, you can share your post even after months if it is on any evergreen topic. For example, if you write on the latest movie review, then the post will get irrelevant after a few months. But if you write a post on the list of the best horror/romantic movies of all time, then people will be eager to read it even after years.
- A kickass title will be an icing on the cake- From my personal experience, I have seen that we decide to read or not to read any blog post just by seeing the article title. So, you must do some brainstorming for writing an awesome title. It’s simply mandatory, if you want to win the competition in the blogosphere and get huge traffic. A shabby title is not going to work well for you and kill the interest of people to read the post.
- Experiment with titles- never get scared to experiment with something. Create new title every time you share your post and find out which way is working for you. Then you can follow that tip to share better.
#5- CREATE NEWSLETTERS FOR PROMOTING YOUR BEST BLOGS
Try getting emails for your blog newsletters. You can send your loyal readers weekly or monthly the newsletter on your best post(s). As the readers already love your blog, hence, they may visit your site again and stay a bit longer. You never know what treasure they will find in your blog and maybe they will refer your blog to others.
#6- FEARING KEYWORDS WILL KILL YOUR BLOG
If you want to enhance the number of visitors to your blog, then you must do a good keyword research.
Often I saw my friends scaring about SEO and keyword research.
But, the fact is, SEO is a boon if done correctly.
If you use proper keywords for your blog that people often search on Google, then you may get good visitors as they will find your blog and get the answer to the question they are looking for.
Google drives almost billions of searches per day.
If you want to get a piece of tart from it, you need to use keywords.
- Long tail keyword matters- Generally a long-tail keyword consists of 3+ words. And if you want to get good rank in the SERPs, then it is the only way to get that. Long-tail keywords are less competitive than the short keywords having only 1 or 2 words.
#7- FIND OUR FLOCK
Now, this factor is very important.
Suppose your business is on pet foods and you start selling it in the sea-shore- that doesn’t make sense, right?
You need to find out where the flock of your readers exist.
It may be Facebook; it may be Twitter, it may be LinkedIn.
It’s not at all intelligent to spend time on all social media platforms. Rather check from Google Analytics that which platform is working good for you. Spend time sharing your blog posts on those platforms, and you can see a rapid increase in your readers and traffic.
#8- SOCIAL SHARING BUTTONS? LESSER THE BETTER
Don’t confuse your readers with so many social sharing buttons. Neil Patel said in one of his posts that too many social sharing buttons would not work well for you. Once you find the platforms that work for you, put the social sharing buttons of those only.
Trust me, it works.
#9- WANT MORE TRAFFIC? ASK READERS TO SHARE YOUR POST
A study by Social Bakers found that if you ask your readers to Retweet your post, the chances of their sharing will increase by 73.48 average retweets per tweet. On the other hand, if you don’t ask to retweet, you will get only 2.09 retweets.
So never be shy.
Ask your readers to share your post as a call-to-action.
You can wait and see how good your traffic increases with social sharing.
#10- SPEED OPTIMIZATION FOR MOBILE IS COMPULSORY
According to a study, modern people stay in mobile for almost 3 hours a day minimum. So, during this time they may visit your site as expected. But if your site takes too long to load, then the reader won’t wait, instead hit the back button and check your competitor's site.
So check and work well on the speed optimization for your site for mobile.
#11- PLAY NICE WITH OTHER PRO’S
If you want to flourish in this field of blogging, then keep a good rapport with fellow bloggers in your niche. You may not like them, but still, you have no other way other than making your enemy your friend!
Add them in your blogs, while sharing their posts mention them, comment on their posts. Hopefully, you will also get back the same behavior from them. And you will get a certain percentage of loyal readers to your site as well.
#12- ATTEND EVENTS AND HOST EVENTS
Meeting fellow bloggers in person still, holds importance in this world of online communication. If you visit them or host events, then it is likely that they will discuss your blogs with others. That, in turn, will bring good traffic no doubt.
#13- BE CONSISTENT
Yes, this is one of the main factors to get a consistent good traffic on your blog always. If you post daily, and that too at a particular time, then readers will start expecting something fresh from you and gradually keep on waiting to see your upcoming blog post. So, if you are inconsistent, then the readers will be unsatisfied and stop following your blog.
To conclude, I would say, that we all have some posts that suck. But still, we need to be patient and persistent with that post and keep on trying our best to make some other remarkable post.
Most bloggers don't get success as they want success overnight and they quit too fast.
But believe me, blogging is a long-term game.
You never know on the day you can reach the summit of success if you keep on working consistently and work hard.
